Shannon Ryan is from Northampton, MA. She graduated from Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School with a focus on Health Technology and is now a senior at Elms College, majoring in social work and minoring in psychology. In her years at Elms College, she also served on the Student Athlete Committee over the past three years to help bring the voice of student athletes across campus. Shannon also serves as team captain of one of the Elms College women’s soccer team.
Growing up in her family she was very involved in the community, which has given her the opportunity to operate “behind the scenes” on project management responsibilities and learn how to deploy large entertainment events, such as the Three County Fair, Northampton Family Fourth of July Fireworks, and the Northampton St. Patrick’s Association. She has volunteered at the Easthampton Community Center serving weekly dinners to local families in need. At the beginning of this pandemic, Shannon took part in a community food drive drive-thru to collect, sort, and organize food that would be distributed to families in the area. Shannon also most recently volunteered with the Victim Witness Protection Office and the Hampshire County Sheriffs department.
At Tech Foundry, she will be developing and writing a community resources e-newsletters for alumni and students, shadowing Career Coaching and learning about some of the community outreach and social services needs of Tech Foundry students.
